What a Halifax Marketing Agency Actually Costs in 2026

Navy graphic with white text reading Nobody publishes their prices. So here are ours. My Ads Team.

We asked six Halifax agencies in 2026 what they charge. Five were happy to share. Most landed between $750 and $3,000 a month to manage your marketing, with the lower end sitting around $1,000. We start at $1,200 for SEO on its own, or $2,000 a month when it's bundled with Google or Meta ads, on a three month minimum. That's management only. Your ad spend is separate and it goes to Google or Meta, not to us.

That's the number. The rest of this explains what sits behind it, so you can tell whether a quote you're looking at is fair. If you want the short version, it's on our services page.

Why nobody publishes prices

Ring five Halifax agencies and you'll get five versions of "it depends on your goals."

Some of that is real. A single-location clinic and a company selling across four provinces need different work. But most of it is a sales tactic. If they don't name a number, they can size the quote to what they think you'll pay.

We publish ours because the alternative wastes both our time. If $1,200 a month is out of range, you'd rather know now than after two calls.

The numbers in this post came from asking directly, as a colleague rather than a prospect. Five of six were happy to talk. That is the difference: the information exists, it is just not offered to buyers.

The three numbers you're actually comparing

When you're weighing up quotes, you're looking at three separate things and they get muddled constantly.

Management fee. What the agency charges to do the work. Strategy, building campaigns, writing ads, watching the numbers, fixing what breaks. This is the number that varies most between agencies.

Ad spend. What you pay Google and Meta to show your ads. This never touches the agency's bank account. If someone quotes you "$2,000 a month all in" and won't break out the split, ask again.

Build costs. One-off work at the start. Landing pages, tracking setup, conversion tracking that actually fires. Some agencies fold this into month one, some bill it separately, some skip it entirely and then wonder why nothing converts.

An agency quoting $900 with $600 of build hidden inside month one is more expensive than one quoting $1,200 flat. You have to ask.

What the ranges look like in Halifax

These come from those six conversations in 2026, not from a survey or a published index. Six is a small sample and it is a real one, which is more than the industry usually offers.

Under $750 a month. Usually one person doing this alongside other work, or an offshore team following a template. It can work for a very simple local business. It cannot work if your market is competitive or your offer needs explaining.

$750 to $1,500. The bulk of the Halifax market. One service done properly, or two done lightly. This is where most local small businesses land, and it's a reasonable place to be.

$1,500 to $3,500. Multiple channels, real strategy, someone senior involved. This is where you should be if marketing is a meaningful part of how you get customers.

Above $3,500. You're either buying a larger team, a specialist, or a national agency's Halifax pricing. Some of that is worth it. Some of it is overhead you're funding.

What we charge and why

SEO on its own starts at $1,200 a month. Bundled with Google or Meta ads it's $2,000. Three month minimum on both.

The minimum isn't a lock-in tactic. It's that nothing meaningful happens in thirty days. Google Ads needs a few weeks of data before the optimisation is anything other than guesswork. SEO takes three to six months to show real movement. Charging you for one month of either would be taking money for a result neither of us could see.

Carol runs the strategy. You won't be handed to a junior after the sale, which is the single most common complaint we hear about the agency someone just left.

What the ad spend should be

Separate question, and the honest answer is that it depends on what a customer is worth to you.

We've grown businesses on $10 a day. We've also managed six-figure monthly budgets. Our own minimums are $1,200 a month in Google Ads spend, $1,000 a month for Meta lead generation, or $500 a month if all you want is visibility.

Those floors exist because below them there isn't enough volume to tell what's working from what's random. You end up paying for data too thin to act on. If you want to see how far a small budget can actually go, we wrote about the $10 a day ad strategy separately.

The thing that matters more than the number is whether your offer converts. If it doesn't, a bigger budget makes the problem more expensive rather than smaller. We'll tell you if that's what we're seeing.

What makes a quote go up

Competition. A Halifax law firm competing against national firms costs more to move than a Dartmouth trades business competing against three local ones.

How many places you sell. One location is simpler than five. Nova Scotia is simpler than Canada and the US.

Whether your site converts. If traffic arrives and leaves, more traffic doesn't help. Sometimes the first month is fixing that rather than buying visitors.

How long the sale takes. A $200 purchase and a $20,000 contract need different campaigns and different measurement.

What you should get for the money

At any price above about $1,000 a month, expect all of this:

Monthly reporting you can read without a translator, in numbers that matter to your business rather than platform metrics. Ownership of your own accounts, so if you leave you keep the history. A named person who knows your business. Ad copy written for you, and creative worked on together rather than billed as an extra. And an honest answer when something isn't working.

If you're paying over $1,000 and not getting those, you're paying too much regardless of the number.

Two questions worth asking any agency

"Do I own the ad account?" If the answer is anything other than a straight yes, walk. Agencies that hold your account are making it expensive to leave, and that tells you what they expect the work to be worth.

"What would you tell me not to do?" Anyone who says yes to everything either hasn't thought about your business or doesn't want to risk the sale. The answer to this question tells you more than the pitch does.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a marketing agency cost in Halifax?

We asked six Halifax agencies in 2026 and five shared their numbers. Most charge $750 to $3,000 a month for management, separate from ad spend, with the lower end around $1,000. We start at $1,200 a month for SEO, or $2,000 bundled with ads, on a three month minimum. Under $750 you are usually buying one person's spare hours. Above $3,500 you are buying a bigger team or a national agency's pricing.

Is ad spend included in the management fee?

No, and be careful with anyone who blurs the two. Management is what the agency charges. Ad spend goes to Google or Meta. A quote of “$2,000 all in” means very different things depending on the split, so ask for it in writing.

What is the minimum I should spend on ads?

Our own minimums are $1,200 a month in Google Ads spend, $1,000 a month for Meta lead generation, or $500 a month if you only want visibility. Below those levels there is not enough volume to separate what is working from chance. We have run successful campaigns on $10 a day, but that takes patience.

Why do agencies make you sign for three months?

Because nothing conclusive happens in one. Google Ads needs a few weeks of data before optimisation stops being guesswork, and SEO takes three to six months to move. A one month contract would mean charging you before either of us could see a result.

Is an agency worth it, or should I hire someone in-house?

Job Bank puts a Halifax marketing manager at $33.67 an hour at the low end and $50.19 at the median, roughly $70,000 to $104,000 a year before benefits. One person rarely covers SEO, paid ads and creative well. Below roughly $7,000 a month in total marketing budget an agency or contractor is usually better value.
